Happy New Year Everyone!
I hope you all had a great New Year’s with your loved ones and that you are all ready to conquer 2018! Remember a New Year means NEW chances, NEW beginnings, and NEW adventures! We only have one life so lets all live it to the fullest(cheesy I know but it’s true)! ♡
I’m starting off the New Year traveling(for once lol)! I’m going to Washington D.C. and New York City! I’m super excited because I’ve never been to either of those places. I’ll be meeting my cousins when I land and I’m so happy to finally see them! Although, I’m in for a rude awakening when I land in D.C. because California doesn’t really have winter weather like D.C. and NYC! Hopefully, I don’t freeze my butt off LOL!
With that being said, today I’m bringing to you my carry-on essentials! I’ve traveled before and I think it’s super important to take a carry-on bag that is both sturdy and small enough to fit all airline carry-on standards.
For my carry-on I will be taking my Eco Gear backpack designed by one of my favorite youtubers Danielle Carolan! It’s seriously the cutest backpack ever and is the perfect size to fit all of my essentials in!
Here are my carry-on essentials broken down into different categories:
The Top Must-Have Essentials
1. Phone & Phone Case
Obviously, you need your phone and a protective phone case! Having your phone is essential because with a click of a button you can easily load your boarding pass. Also, the airport and security can be hectic sometimes so who knows if you’ll be rushing. The last thing you want is to drop your phone and have it crack!!
We all know I love my Wildflower Cases because they’re super reliable and cute! I’ve recently dropped my phone twice with my Wildflower case on and my phone didn’t crack one bit!
*knocks on wood after typing that*
Anyways, the case shown in the featured image is the Black Velvet Silver Stars Case it’s a one-of-a-kind case!
Of course you NEED your wallet and everything inside it like: money, ID, boarding passes, bank cards, etc…If you leave these at home you definitely won’t be smiling!
3. Small Purse
I personally like to stick a small purse inside my carry-on so I don’t have to search for it in my luggage. This comes in handy because if you’re going out to eat after you leave the airport it’s nice to have a purse ready to go, so you can just throw your wallet and phone in there and call it a day!
4. Phone/Laptop Charger, Chord, and Cube
I have an iPhone and I never leave home without a good charger. I personally love using an extra long iPhone Charger because having a long chord is so convienent at most times! I will also be packing my laptop charger with me since I’m traveling with it.
5. Portable Charger
I LOVE portable chargers and try to keep one with me wherever I go! They’re so handy. I personally love the Mophie Powerstation XL it’s small and seriously lasts ALL DAY LONG.
Having a pen is so handy just in case you have to fill something out on the plane or in the airport!
Headphones = AN ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE
Do I need to say more???
( oh wait jk just a side note if you have the iPhone 7 or later pack your headphone adapter!! You’ll thank me later!)
Well, obviously your phone and laptop can keep you occupied, but what if you want to take a break from looking at a screen for awhile?! Pack magazines or books so you physically flip through pages without harming your eyes from looking at a screen for too long. I’ll be packing some of my favorite magazines like Billboard, Instyle, and Teen Vogue.
Normally, I wouldn’t travel with my laptop because I don’t have work to do and I don’t want to carry it around. But, this time I have to take because I’m taking an online intersession class. At least, my backpack has a laptop sleeve lol!
Pucker up and keep your lips hydrated! My aunt got me the new Sephora Collection Lip Balm in the color Almond: Nourishing & Moisturizing for Christmas and I absolutely love it! It smells so good and keeps your lips smooth all day. It’s only $6! What a deal!
If you’re feeling a little extra but want to keep your makeup simple just add a lip stain to tint your lips a little! I really like lip stains because they aren’t drying like matte lipsticks. Lately, I have been using the Maybelline LipStudio Color Jolt Intense Lip Paint in the shade 05 Stripped Down.
I like to pack sunglasses in my carry-on as well so when I get off of the plane and out of the airport I can easily access them! Especially, if I’m traveling somewhere sunny.
4. Perfume/Body Spray
Carrying a rollerball perfume or a mini body spray is handy just in case you’re feeling a little icky after getting off your flight. I’ve been loving the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh perfume.
5. Hair ties
You never know when you’ll need a hair tie! My hair gets frizzy easily so sometimes I just like to put it up in a high ponytail and call it a day.
6. Babyganics Hand Sanitizer Wipes
These are one of my holy grail items and I take them everywhere, both at home and abroad. Wipe down dirty tables, sanitize cuts, or just clean sticky hands. Buy them in bulk and keep a few packets in your luggage as back up! You can never be too clean!
7. Hand Sanitizer
Hand Sanitizer is also my holy grail(can you tell I’m a germaphobe lol)! I love using the Warm Vanilla Sugar hand sanitizer from Bath & Body Works.
8. Breath Spray
Carrying breath spray with you after a long flight is probably a good idea! It will leave you feeling clean and fresh. Also, what if you end up next to a cute boy?! No one wants to smell bad breath! I personally use the Hello Supermint Breath Spray.
Tissues are essential because you never know when you’ll need them whether it’s for: A runny nose, cleaning up a mess, or passing your number to the cute boy sitting next to you. 😉
Airplanes can get really cold sometimes and the last thing you want is to be shivering on a long flight! So, take a jacket with you. I’ve been loving my PINK sherpa jacket(the one I talked about in my December favorites) so I will definitely be wearing that on the plane tomorrow!
2. Neck Pillow
Do you ever wake up with a knot in your neck sometimes?? Whether it’s from sleeping at a weird angle in the car or on the plane I know a sore neck can really suck! That’s why taking a new pillow with you when traveling is a must so you can sleep comfortably.
Like I said earlier, some airplanes can be so cold!! I always like to take a pair of socks with me for warmth and comfort! Also, wearing socks on the plane is good for sanitary reasons.
Other Useful Things
No matter how long your flight is it is ALWAYS a good idea to pack your own snacks from home! Airplane food isn’t the best all the time…unless you’re living your best life in first class! So, keep your tummy happy and pack sealed snacks from home.
2. Reusable Water Bottle
Forget the airplane’s tiny water cups! Take an empty reusable water bottle with you then when you pass security fill your water bottle up and you’re ready to go!
Gum is a must-have for me!! I ALWAYS have gum on me all the time just because I love it! But, it’s even more important to take gum with you on the plane because if your ears start popping the gum will definitely help!!
↠ I think I did a pretty good job of covering all the different aspects of what goes into a carry-on bag!
